Choosing the perfect place for your wedding is one of the most complicated choices for the couple. How do you choose the perfect wedding location? There are many places available for a wedding ceremony. However, you will realise after looking for a while that there are only a few that you like.
The first things to take into account are the practical aspects (it may happen that you have had a place in mind for a long time and that in the end it does not have the characteristics that you need). You also have to remember that the wedding is not only for the couple but also for the guests.
You are going to get married in front of your friends and family to share your love and promise to one another for the rest of your lives, it needs to be an unforgettable day.
Accessibility
Do some of your guests have a disability? The location and the services have to be accessible for these guests. A castle with the reception on the top floor where there is no elevator is not an option for them.
Plan B
If you decide to get married outside, make sure that the venue has a space inside as well with the same capacity, caracteristics and plan for the day. Make sure it is possible to transfer everything from outside to inside, even on short notice. ALWAYS!
Capacity
It goes without saying that if you are having 150 guests, the venue has to be able to welcome all of them. Some venues, especially historic venues, have many rooms connected but can not accommodate all your guests. Are you sure that you like the sound of that? Some of your guests may feel left out.
Space for children
Are you going to have kids et your wedding? If so, make sure there is no danger to them in the venue. Eaves, unprotected stairs, ravines, wells… And in any case, provide entertainment and supervision. If you equip a part of the garden outdoors, if you ask for a room just for them inside, the parents will thank you.
Distance
If your guests have limitations, evaluate the distance from your home, from the place of the ceremony, from any airport or station, so that getting to the wedding is as easy as possible and, above all, not a hassle.
Accommodation
If you are getting married in a place that is far away from your home, it is more practicle for you to choose a venue that has accommodation. Careful, before the wedding, even if you already live together, you will be prepared in two separate rooms, which should be large enough and equipped for you, your friends, mother, sisters, make-up artist, hairdresser, photographer and cameraman. You also need to have the possibility to eat something during the preparations. Same applies for the groom. You will share a room the next day! If you would like to have some of your guests over as well, you need to make sure the venue has enough rooms available to welcome everyone.
Ceremony
Not all places are municipal housing. This is an authorization granted by the municipality. If you want to celebrate the wedding and have the reception in the same place, make sure that this is legally possible.
Some venues also have a chapler or a small church where you can have a religious wedding. If this is what you want, speak with the venue, but also with the priest who will celebrate the wedding, because his agreement is fundamental.
Season
Some places can be particularly appropriate during a certain season but also very inappropriate during other seasons. A venue with amazing views looses its charm if there is fog that day or if it is night time where you can not see the view. Once this is done, let’s continue in style. The location must represent the couple and what their tastes and passions are.
We can relate the locations to their interests.
- Historic venues (villas or castles) in the countryside, in the mountains or in the city (history)
- Venues near the sea, a lake or beaches suitable for weddings (water)
- Modern structures, large hotel lounges (usually large empty rooms, therefore, can be adapted to any design)
- Museums (the interest depends on its content)
- Vineyards equipped for weddings (nature)
And here you have to understand what your preferences are. Think about your passions, interests and what is most important to you. Once you know your interests and what you want, you can choose a type of venue.
At this point, I am sure that the selection will be very limited and not only will you not have to spend all of your weekends visiting venues, but rather evaluate the few that you really like.
So you can decide purely based on emotional factors. However, it is an impressive job which requires in depth knowledge of every detail about the wedding.
This selction is my part of the job my knowledge of all these details will free you from so much stress, so much indecisiveness and the fear of having forgotten something or having made the wrong decision.
