As lovers of nature, Fiona and Christopher were keen for their wedding to be outdoors on a sunny day surrounded by flora and fauna. Their wedding had a traditional British afternoon tea party theme, filled with summer games and little tea sandwiches.
Simon Biffen captured the charming affair. Just take a look at the pictures and you’ll find all the inspiration you need for a traditionally British wedding!
Fiona and Christopher’s Love Story
The couple first met at university and instantly started a friendship. After they finished university, they saw the love they had for each other and their friendship turned into a relationship.
After eight years of being together, Christopher proposed to Fiona on a romantic weekend away in Amsterdam!
Wedding Location
The couple chose The Dreys as their wedding venue, a countryside venue in Kent which hosts bespoke weddings, and the ceremony took place in the late summer of 2019. This was the perfect location for Fiona and Christopher to say their vows, as they love nature and the outdoors and here, they could have their ceremony surrounded by forests and wildlife.
Wedding Style
Fiona’s wedding dress, found at Blackburn Bridal, was by Alexandra Grecco in the “Amelie” style. She found her Nick of Time shoes at Irregular Choice after unsuccessfully trying on multiple other pairs and not liking them. They were her perfect match, just like Cinderella’s slipper! Her bridesmaids looked stunning in their “Emmie” dresses which were by Jenny Yoo.
British Tea Party Theme
As the venue itself provided a pretty backdrop for their tea party, there wasn’t a need for excessive decorations. Some simple decorations they added included little lanterns, blankets and pops of yellowsince it is Fiona’s favourite colour.
The flowers were provided by Sue Davies Flowers and consisted of daisies, eucalyptus and craspedia. She also produced a spectacular floral arch for the altar at the ceremony and centrepieces for the table.
WildwoodPaperStore on Etsy was the stationery supplier for the wedding, but Fiona also handmade a lot of it. A lovely personalised touch!
To fulfil the British tea party vibe, there were traditional British summer games for guests to participate in. Afternoon tea food, scones, Pimm’s were all present; a tea party would not be complete without any of these!
Wedding Flavours
Of course, the canapes were in the style of Afternoon tea which is very traditional in England, featuring lots of tasty scones and tea sandwiches. The wedding banquet included salads and beef fillet, and for a snack in the evening burgers and chips were served. They even had a bonfire where they toasted marshmallows!
All of the food was provided by Tayberry Foods, who produced the tastiest dishes and definitely satisfied everyone’s taste buds!
The next day, Fiona and Christopher said goodbye to their friends and family and jetted off to Seychelles as a newly married couple. What an adventurous way to begin a lifetime of happiness together!
