The beautiful thing about weddings, is that at any time of the year you can use the seasons to your advantage to organise an exciting day. From warm, colourful summer weddings to cosy winter wonderland themed weddings, there are so many opportunities throughout the whole year no matter the weather!
Today we bring to you a romantic wedding in Scotland, where the autumnal atmosphere created a warm, cheerful event. Aimee and Mark were so good at organising their wedding themselves, and the outcome of their special day was so impressive!
Their top tips to future brides and grooms include being well organised with time management, relying on wedding vendors and taking time throughout the day to make sure you are enjoying yourself and not getting stressed out.
As Aimee and Mark didn’t hire a videographer, they wanted to ensure that they chose a photographer with lots of experience who knows exactly how to capture people’s emotions on the wedding day. They found Lena Sabala, a photographer based in Scotland, who did an awesome job at producing images that reflect the real feelings of the guests. Just look at the eye-catching photos!
Unique Location
Aimee and Mark chose The Cowshed in Crail, Scotland as their wedding location. Since it is popular to get married in castles, country houses and hotels, they wanted to find a more unique location that would make their wedding more distinctive.
The Cowshed is a renovated cowshed on the Scottish coast and was perfect for their authentic celebration. Its spacious rooms were suitable for their 90 guests and provided a great backdrop for their autumnal wedding!
Aimee and Mark’s Love Story
The couple originally met ten years ago in a nightclub and have been totally in love ever since. A few years into their relationship, Mark took Aimee to Fonab Castle in Pitlochery, and got down on one knee before going to dinner. Aimee hadn’t suspected anything, and she instantly said yes!
Wedding Attire
Aimee wore a wedding gown from Daughters of Simone and a pair of elegant Steve Madden shoes. Her bridesmaids all wore matching two-piece sets from Folkster, a small Irish brand. Mark wore a traditional Scottish kilt made with Ribislaw Tarta.
Warm, Rustic Vibes
The wedding theme was warm and rustic, so that it complemented the chilly autumnal vibes. The vast number of candles dotted around the room was perfect for this, as they glowed a warm orange colour on the cold October day.
For the flowers, they mostly had ivy hanging around as oppose to popular floral arrangements seen at most weddings.
Vicky from Paperoo supplied the wedding stationery which was so authentic and really reflected the autumnal vibes!
Wedding Cuisine
Once it was time to dive into the wedding banquet, the guests found themselves enjoying a tasty menu filled with foods such as taco canapes, camembert tart, seabass and Aberdeen Angus beef. The spiced pumpkin brittle was a perfect way to incorporate autumnal flavours into the wedding menu!
Mark’s mother did the honours of making the wedding cake, which had four tiers of different cake flavours including coconut, pumpkin spice, carrot cake and a Victoria sandwich. She used a naked icing technique to decorate it which complemented the rustic venue.
Once everybody had filled their tummies with delicious food, they all got up on the dancefloor to dance to Los Perros. It was a day packed full of elegant details and happy memories!
